We got our Teacher's gifts ready today and they look awesome!!! We started by putting reward stickers in one bag, disinfectant wipes in another bag and pencils in the last bag. Each set of items was tucked into a single piece of tissue paper awaiting it's flower to finish it off!
I am one of those people that will fold tissue paper from my gifts and reuse it again later. Today that paid off and we had all sorts of colors to choose from when making our flowers!
The girls were excited to make their own flowers, but Aiden is growing up and he just wanted to pick the colors for his teacher's flower! Emma choose 4 colors for the flower petals and the fifth sheet was used for the center of the blossom. To prepare the center of the blossom the top sheet is trimmed so that it is thinner and cut on the open side in 1/2 inch strips. Then all of the sheets are stacked in a pile again and accordion folded then folded in half and secured with a pipe cleaner!
The final step in the flower-making-process is to fluff the flowers! You have to be very gently when separating the sheets of paper so they are not ripped... but these are so pretty when they are done!
The girls were very proud of their finished flowers!
Finally to personalize each gift I had the kids each write out a note for their teacher...
Aiden's note on the left "Let's start this year off "write"!" goes with a gift of pencils. Emma's note in the middle "We are going to have a rewarding year!" goes with a gift of reward stickers. Isabella's note on the right "Let's clean our worries away...and have a great 1st day!" goes with a gift of disinfectant wipes!
Our project was a success and we are one step closer to being ready for the first day of school this year!
