Whenever there is big news to share, I always try to make sure that the right people are told before I announce it to the world. Sometimes I even leak a little teaser to start opening people's minds to what could be coming. This time we actually had our "news" for a little while before we were ready to share it but, I did throw out a hint that something big was coming too....so here goes...
...We are moving to New Hampshire! We have devoted a lot time considering all of our options and we are excited about this next chapter in our lives! Of course, we are sad and broken hearted to move away from our hometown, our friends and our wonderful family in the area. One thing we have learned the many times that we have moved is that our friends and family are always with us in our hearts no matter how far apart we are. This is a really big opportunity and we would be crazy not to take advantage of it!
We are still working out the details, such as exactly when the big move will be, which moving company will be used, and which town we are going to move to, etc. So far, we are anticipating leaving VA a day or two after Christmas and arriving in New Hampshire in time to celebrate New Year's Eve! Right now we are concentrating on getting all of our stuff back to either our apartment or our storage unit, sorting it and getting like things put together, all while trying to get rid of the excess we have acquired along the way! Below is a peek into what sorting looks like "Lisa Style". I actually managed to destroy the living room floor and find it again, all in one day.
I know most of you are still scratching your heads or picking your jaws up off the floor.....wondering..... "Why"? Well...the simple answer is, we are following my husband's career and our dreams.
A little over a month ago my husband's employer informed their employees that they were shutting the doors in Christiansburg this year. Then he was given two options:
1. Be unemployed as of December 15, 2016
or
2. Accept a promotion and move to NH.

We had been anticipating something like this, the possibility of moving anyways, when Aegisound was bought by Gentex Corporation late last year. That left us wondering if operations would actually continue in VA, or if eventually they would be moved to New Hampshire. Looks like we don't have to wonder anymore... The news still felt like a shock to the system and took a lot of thought just to process.
We weighed the pros and cons, and were fortunate enough to get the opportunity to visit NH together. We toured the Gentex facility, had some meetings and drove through some of the surrounding areas. After almost a month of painstaking research and going back and forth weighing pros and cons some more, we finally decided that moving our family with the company would give us the best opportunity for the future we dream of.
I plan on continuing to weave when we move and I am even looking into what it would take to join the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen! I will also be looking for a regular job to take place of my baking and "projects" that I do to help us financially at the moment...maybe I will work in a bakery or maybe I will head in a whole new direction. I am a "Jack of all trades after all! ....and just in case you're wondering...yes...I do want a regular job again. I am actually excited about going back to work. I am excited to move to New Hampshire. We are all excited to move to New Hampshire and I hope that you can all be excited with us! (Even the kids are on board, they just don't quite understand why they have to wait so long before we move now that we know it is happening! Me, I am thankful for the time to get our ducks in a row instead of being rushed through this process.)

If you are still having trouble getting onboard check out some of the fun things I have found out about New Hampshire so far!
1. Cub Scouts looks even more fun in NH! --they have a Klondike derby and Chuckwagon derby in addition to Pinewood derby!
2. There are things called "Ice Castles" to explore in the Winter and they average 8 feet of snow each winter!
3. You can go ice fishing there, see Moose, ride bobsleds or dogsleds and drive on frozen lakes!
4. New England Clam chowder is best when made fresh in New England.
5. It only takes about 16 hours to take a train from Lynchburg, VA to Manchester, NH than to drive and tickets are as low as $125 plus you don't have to stop for bathroom breaks or food, you can stretch your legs and you don't even have to worry about traffic!
I hope these fun facts have made you feel better if you were feeling down about all this. We understand that some people aren't going to be onboard right away, but we hope you will join us in our enthusiasm one day! Until next time...Don't forget to smile :) things will be okay!
