I found these in the girls folders this morning before school! They're a little late, but I truly love the little Mother's Day cards the girls made for me at school!
Tuesdays are Cub Scout days and usually the girls stay home with Grandma to give Aiden some sister free attention... Since their Dad and Grandma are both out of town they are going to be with us for the next several outings which will be a big treat for them and hopefully he will enjoy having them around like he did this time. Today we went to Mill Mountain Discovery Center and did some hiking.
...We got to see a rain garden that was designed and put in place as part of an Eagle Scout project by our Cub Master's son Arthur. The garden is helping with a run-off problem the Discovery Center was having from their parking lot...
...There is a new drainage pipe that was installed close to the parking lot, a new gravel path, a new fence and new flowers and trees. The plants that were chosen for the garden are not only beautiful, but they are also native species and are meant to attract birds and butterflies!
The kids were all super excited to see the Star and we got a pretty foggy view of the Roanoke Valley, but the kids still thought it was awesome to see and enjoyed hiking the trails around the Star and Discovery Center.
These pictures are nine of the ten flowering trees that the Cub Scouts planted for my Mom almost two weeks ago. I am very pleased that so many of them are showing signs of being healthy and sprouting leaves and hopefully the weather will hold out next Tuesday so that some of the Cub Scouts can see the growth first hand.
