It's been a wonderful birthday!

I got to sleep in this morning before going for a little kayak trip down the New River!
We launched from the boat ramp by the Claytor Lake Dam and explored the river from there to the boat ramp at Riverview Park.
It was a nice lazy trip down the river that took about 2 hours.  It could have taken a little longer, but we rushed the last little bit to beat a storm that was blowing through!
While the skies were still clear we did get to enjoy some beautiful scenery and visit with some geese.  Plus we got to see a turtle and some fish!
A lot of the river that we were in was quite shallow and slow moving, but it was still much easier to navigate than the choppy water in the lake!
After putting the kayaks away for the day we headed off to the local movie theater to enjoy a grownup movie.  "Central Intelligence" kept us laughing from beginning to end and full of great action scenes! We were able to see the movies, get popcorn and a drink by using a gift card we got awhile ago for Regal Cinemas.  They actually have an awesome rewards program that you can use to earn movie tickets and candy and stuff.  If you don't have a rewards card you can get one at the box office and register it from your smartphone within minutes and start earning points with your next ticket purchase.  They have $6 movie tickets all day on Tuesdays and additional discounts on your concessions too when you use your rewards card...which is free BTW!
Last, but not least, we enjoyed an inexpensive dinner at Outback Steakhouse with the help of another gift card we had stashed for a special day!  The waiter even gave me a free sundae with chocolate fudge and oreo crumbles on top for my birthday!

All-in-all this has been the best birthday I have had in a long time and I hope that they start turning out like this from now on!  Thank you to everyone that has sent me well wishes...to my Mom for taking the kids...and to my husband for making today so much fun!
