Support your local Farmers!!!

Do you like your food straight from the farm to your table?
Since many of my friends are from the Roanoke/Bedford/Lynchburg VA area I thought I would take a moment to bring awareness to a great place to get locally grown and made items, The Forest Farmers' Market.  This Farmers' Market is held alongside the walking path that runs by the Forest Library parking lot on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.  The market hosts vendors that have produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, wine, jam, jellies, baked goods, fresh flowers, honey and value added crafts.  They are also proud members of the Bedford Artisan Trail.

My sister and her family run Rezzfull Acres Farm in Moneta VA and they offer a great selection of meats, canned goods, and eggs at the market.  If you are wanting fresh chicken or duck eggs, this is the place to find them, but get there early since they go fast.  You can also keep up with their farm by liking them on their Facebook page.
Mom brings jellies, jams, and dipping sauces, including a good pick-a-dilly like dip and salsa (varieties depend on what's in season).  Plus she also has hand made dish clothes, potholders, and custom made scouring pads, that are made with 100% cotton yarn.  Though, her featured items would have to be the dish towels and place mats that she weaves on her loom.  I help her build her stock when I can with the potholders and scouring pads since she has so much on her plate.  So far I have 10 potholders that should make it to market around the end of the month and I have a bunch of the scouring pads coming that should be finished soon too.

I hope you will visit the Forest Farmers' Market and take advantage of the opportunity to get quality fresh local food and feed your family with the best ingredients that you can.  Plus, you can support the local community and pick up some of the featured artisan products as well.
