Life on the Farm #RaisedBedGarden #SpringBabies

This is the mess that is left of what used to be an awesome garden that my sister put together.  Under all the leftover stalks and weeds that got a little out of hand are tons of river rock bordering garden beds.  When my sister and her family moved last summer before the end of harvesting season we were blessed to be invited to any remaining crops, plus she invited us to take what we could for use in Mom's garden.  So we have been taking what we can and re-homing it to our garden. (if mom could figure out how she would take the dirt too, it looks so nice and is full of worms). Since we did't have a chance to clean it out in the Fall now we are scrambling to get it done before the last of the crops need to be planted in May.

With the warm weather upon us today (when I checked mid-day it was 77 degrees out there and we were soaking it up) we took the opportunity to make another trip to my sister's garden.  We got an even bigger load of rocks than I did yesterday that we have added to our garden and we even made it past the corner of the last raised bed that needs to be framed in.  Plus we got some more stakes and a nice piece of fencing too!

After we got done unloading the rocks and having lunch I went back outside to clean under the rabbits and add some good nutrients to my garden bed.  The nice thing about rabbit poop is that it is not too hot to add directly to the garden and it makes an excellent fertilizer.

Aiden is still in love with his chickens (The Black Astrolorps are his) and he visits with them each morning before he goes to school and as soon as he gets off the bus each day.  This will be the second batch of day old chicks we have gotten since we moved in and we handled the first batch daily as well.

My cousin Kimmie also has some new Spring babies too, but hers are goats.  Three days ago one of her goats had twin babies, a boy and a girl.  The mama goat rejected the girl and Kimmie and her friends have been having to bottle feed her around the clock.  Today they had good weather in MI as well and Kimmie got the chance to take her orphan outside and things are looking up for the little girl.
