Shelves anyone?

Mom and I have a list of projects 4 pages long, but for most of them we are missing at least one thing that we would need to complete them.  One of those projects is the pantry.

Since Mom moved, almost two years ago, I have not liked how the Pantry/Laundry Room was set-up.  It always seemed too crowded, but we couldn't figure out how to make it better.  I started by moving the microwave stand into the recessed corner (which I did have to rest on the quarter round to get it to fit) and then we started measuring for shelves to put over it.

We love to re-purpose things around here and we were able to find some old baseboards to put under the shelves as supports.  I worked on the support boards for a little bit today and got five out of 9 cut, complete with 45 degree angles at the ends.  I have four more to cut tomorrow and then they will need to be sanded before they are hung.

Once we have the supports ready, placing the shelves will be easy as pie!  I love the wood that we found for the shelves and we were able to get all three shelves cut out of just one board.  A big thanks goes out the the gentlemen that helped us at Lowe's and even volunteered to cut it for us.  I could have cut them at home, but it was so nice not to have to!

We did get a really pretty shelf paper and Mom is going to crochet a lace to put on the front edge of each shelf, now we just have to decide rather the shelves should be painted or stained and laquered.

We also got a new piece of pegboard for the garage, 12 new fence posts to beat into the ground, some painter's tape for the Pantry, and the chair rail boards for the breezeway.  The pegboard will help us to finish organizing the garage (another of our huge projects) and the fence posts will be put around the blueberry bushes and thorn-less blackberries we have planted out by the hay barn.  Once we have the new chair rails put up in the breezeway I just need to finish the stair tread and decorate!  Needless to say, we never have a lack of work around this place...Lol...and it sure never gets boring!
