We got a little something done... come check it out!

Yay! We should have a new stove installed sometime between 3:30 and 5 pm tomorrow!  So far our buying experience with Sears has been nothing but good.  The sales associate Tasha, I think, was amazing.  She gave an honest opinion on each of the models we were considering.  She was personable and helped us process our transaction with ease.  The new stove was supposed to be delivered on Monday, however with the snow that was coming down...there was no way that was happening.  They did promptly call us and rescheduled the appointment when it was apparent there was no other option, which is better service than we received from a gas company that also was supposed to come out on Monday....anyhow I did get the power cord taken off the old stove today so that I am ready for the new one when it gets here.  Personally I think appliances should come with a power cord, but they don't and the delivery people aren't allowed to install a used one, but new ones cost $25+....so I took the old power cord off, put all the bolts in a Ziploc bag and put them in the kitchen ready for the new stove tomorrow. :0)

We have definitely not been wasting time sitting around waiting for some good stove cooked food.  Today's project was installing a trellis system for the thorn-less blackberries we have growing out by the hay barn.  Last year they got a little out of hand and rooted here, there and everywhere...but not really growing up into their full potential.  So this year we have finally taken care of that.  We used 8 - fence posts, 5 - 10' x 5' sheets of heavy fencing, and a bunch of zip ties....lol.....For tools we used a post driver (with a piece of wood inside to keep the cap from popping off), tin snips, and a pair of pliers.  The tin snips were supposed to work to cut the extra sheet of fencing, but I am just a 'little thang' and had to stomp the tin snips just to cut that one sheet in half....pretty sure Mom had never seen anyone use her tin snips quite that way before, but sometimes you have to use the leverage you have anyway you can to get the job done.  Hence the pliers... The fencing had extra wire sticking out on the ends, which was nice for where it overlapped....but where it ended at the yard was another story...so I used the pliers to bend the extra wires up and down to smooth it out and make it safer.
The finished project turned out very nicely.  We got the blackberries propped up the best we can for now and once they start sprouting new shoots it'll be on.  I hope they blossom at the right time and that Mom gets a good harvest from them this year.
Tonight at bedtime for the birds our Muscovy Drakes were not getting along.  The older drake, Quackers, was antagonizing the younger drake, Pretty Boy.   Quackers is a beautiful Silver and Pretty Boy is mostly black with white accents on his face.  I was in the coop taking a head count of the birds and the ducks were talking up a storm.  Whitey, our one solid white duck was quacking and nudging Quackers towards Pretty Boy.  They were both just a talkin' to each other and had the feathers on their heads on end trying to be the bigger drake.  It was actually kind of amusing to watch at first, but when they started jumping and biting each other they had to be separated so neither of them got seriously hurt. From reading up on the matter a little it seems quite common to have this problem around spring each year.   We moved one drake and two girl ducks to a small house in the chicken run and we will have to figure out what to do with them all tomorrow now that mating season is apparently upon us.  For now it's time for bed in my neck of the woods. Night all!
